Q. What age do you need to microchip your pet?

A.  Cats must be sterilised, microchipped and registered by the time they reach

      6 months of age.

Dogs must be microchipped once it has reached 3 months of age.

Proof that your dog or cat has been microchipped is required before you can

register them or when there is a change of ownership.

Q. Is there a penalty if my pet is not microchipped?

A. Yes. A penalty of $200 may occur if your pet is not microchipped.

Exemption only occurs if the implantation may risk the animal’s health and welfare.

A vet’s certificate will be required to prove this.

Q. Do I have to microchip a cat if I sell or give away the cat?

A. Yes. You have to microchip and sterilised the cat prior to transfer. If the cat cannot

be sterilised due to its young age, you must provide a prepaid sterilisation voucher to

    the new owner.

Q. Who will do the implanting?

A. Only fully trained authorised implanters will be used.

Q. What type of microchip are we using?

A. We use mini microchip that are the size of a grain of rice. The chip is implanted between

the shoulder blades at the back of your pet's neck, just under the skin. There is

no anesthetic required. Each microchip has their own distinctive number that is

identified using a microchip scanner. This chips number references your details

and your pets details on a australian database.

Q. Does microchipping hurt?

A. Some animals feel it more than others. A very sharp sterile needle is used to insert

the chip, it's very quick to implant. If the animal does feel pain it is only minimal

    and passes quickly.

Q. How long will it take on the day?

A. On the day you will be required to pay the microchipping fee per animal, complete the

registration form for each animal, we then microchip your animal, scan the chip and

     register the animal for you.

If the animal is cooperative it should all be completed in less than 15 minutes per

     animal.

Q. Who do we use to register your pets?

A. We use Global Micro Animal Registry, Australia's newest and most innovative microchip

registry. Global Micro knows the importance of keeping animals registered and offer a

prompt service and accurate microchip registration.

Q. How long does it take for the registration to be effective?

A. We immediately enter the registration data on the day, immediately following the

microchipping. You will then receive an email confirming the registration soon after.

If you do not have a current email address please make sure you get one prior to

implanting or ask to use a friends.

Q. What happens if you find my pet already microchipped?

A. We will not be able to proceed the implant as you will need to verify ownership of the

animal. You will need to contact your local vet.

Q. Can I get more than one pet microchipped?

A. Yes, let us know before arriving, how many animals would you like to get microchipped.
